Painting Workshops

info@artbyteresa.com

Expand your creativity and satisfy the urge to produce your own colorful paintings in a safe and positive atmosphere. Several classes’ available, ongoing classes and one-day workshops in Longmont, Boulder, Arvada, and Denver.

Teresa Smith has been teaching watercolor, acrylics and collage workshops for several years. She is well known nationally for her landscapes, florals and equine art that is sold throughout the United States and Canada.

Inspired by nature, Teresa intuitively creates & paints personal impressions of the environment that surrounds her.

Her goal is to emotionally touch others through her art and create paintings that make you feel.

Teresa has lived and studied art for most of her life in Canada and the United States. She has had a classical education in Fine Arts and treasures her life as an artist.

She enjoys sharing her knowledge with others and learning from the great masters of our time, while living in a beautiful inspiring environment with her three daughters and several pets.

Teresa believes in order to grow as an artist we need to continually experiment and strive for innovative paintings. To push boundaries and step into the unknown. To try new things and allow our inner knowing to take charge. Painting is a spiritual process. We must trust that our hand knows what color or what brush to choose. Our painting comes to life and takes us on an exciting journey. All we have to do as artists is to allow the art to unfold and follow its lead. Make order out of chaos. The result is astounding. Did I paint that we say?  The painting is alive.

Loose and vibrant watercolors. You will really “GET IT”.

I will break it down simply so you will walk away from this class with new found insight on how to loosen up your watercolor style. We will learn how to simplify shapes and create effective designs. We will learn paint application, and the colors and paper that will transform your work. What it takes to add emotional content to your paintings and how you can put your own personal stamp on you work. With my loose style and paint application techniques, it is virtually impossible to create muddy, overworked paintings.   This is your opportunity to take a class where you will finally “GET” how to paint loose, vibrant, watercolors. All levels are very welcome and lots of personal coaching will be provided.

Nationally renowned artist/ teacher Skip Lawrence

Week long workshop  August 9-13 2010

Chief contributor and editor of “The Palette” magazine, author of several articles for publications,  author of books and painting videos.  Skip is a renowned teacher and award winning artist.

Be creative, Be unique, Begin today…

Painting is a continual process of growth and maturation. One can never reach the limits of what they are capable of as long as they continue to work.

Skip’s painting workshops are a great way for both novice and experienced students to improve upon what they have already learned and take their painting to new heights.

Workshops taught by Skip have been known to help students advance to levels of freedom and expression that they never thought possible. Not simply a “how-to-paint” workshop, his classes help each individual paint the way they want to and produce work with real meaning.

Through lecture, demonstration and critique, Skip guides each painter to refine their intention and express it in new and honest ways. No one else but you can say what you want to say in paint – why settle for less? With insight, warmth and humor, Skip brings out the best in each painter.

About the Skip Lawrence workshop in Boulder.

He will demonstrate in watercolor, but he paints with watercolor pigments as if they were acrylics. It really does not matter which media the students use.

William B. (Skip) Lawrence, received a B.F.A. degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art and M.A. degree from Towson University.  His book, Painting Light and Shadow in Watercolor, was published in 1994.  Skip is editor-and-chief of “The Palette Magazine”.  Website:  www.skiplawrence.com
After you have explored all the “how too’s” of painting, you are still stuck with the “why?’  Without a clear declaration of what one wants to say in one’s painting, it can become just an imitation someone else’s work.  Skip challenges painters to rewrite the rules their way, to consider their choices and shake up their status quo.  Through lecture, demonstration and critique, Skip guides each painter to refine their intention and express it in new and honest ways.  No one else but you can say what you want to say in paint—why settle for less? With insight, warmth and humor, Skip brings out the best in each painter.

Florals are one of my traditional favorites. Here is a new painting where I experiment with abstracting a traditional subject. What do you think?
