Expand your creativity and satisfy the urge to produce your own colorful paintings in a safe and positive atmosphere. Several classes’ available, ongoing classes and one-day workshops in Longmont, Boulder, Arvada, and Denver.
Teresa Smith has been teaching watercolor, acrylics and collage workshops for several years. She is well known nationally for her landscapes, florals and equine art that is sold throughout the United States and Canada.
Inspired by nature, Teresa intuitively creates & paints personal impressions of the environment that surrounds her.
Her goal is to emotionally touch others through her art and create paintings that make you feel.
Teresa has lived and studied art for most of her life in Canada and the United States. She has had a classical education in Fine Arts and treasures her life as an artist.
She enjoys sharing her knowledge with others and learning from the great masters of our time, while living in a beautiful inspiring environment with her three daughters and several pets.
Teresa believes in order to grow as an artist we need to continually experiment and strive for innovative paintings. To push boundaries and step into the unknown. To try new things and allow our inner knowing to take charge. Painting is a spiritual process. We must trust that our hand knows what color or what brush to choose. Our painting comes to life and takes us on an exciting journey. All we have to do as artists is to allow the art to unfold and follow its lead. Make order out of chaos. The result is astounding. Did I paint that we say? The painting is alive.

 Loose And Vibrant Watercolors
You will really "GET IT".
I will break it down simply so you will walk away from this class with new found insight on how to loosen up your watercolor style. We will learn how to simplify shapes and create effective designs. We will learn paint application, and the colors and paper that will transform your work. What it takes to add emotional content to your paintings and how you can put your own personal stamp on you work. With my loose style and paint application techniques, it is virtually impossible to create muddy, overworked paintings. This is your opportunity to take a class where you will finally "GET" how to paint loose, vibrant, watercolors. All levels are very welcome and lots of personal coaching will be provided.

Wild and Free Painting in Watercolor
Focus will be on a Jean Carbonetti and Nita Engle style of painting. We will spatter, pour and throw paint to create uniquely inspired works of colorful art. Finished work will be loose and free with a little representational contrast.

Learn how to paint our beautiful Mountain Scenes. Teresa is well known for her watercolor scenes, which she sells as cards and calendars throughout the country. You will learn how to add emotion to your work and create paintings that “SAY SOMETHING”. Explore the loose techniques of applying paint that will ensure pure vibrant color that is NEVER muddy. Learn what colors and paper to use for the best interesting mingled washes . The subject matter will include: Misty morning fog, trees, rocks, mountain lakes, and skies.

Let us learn the many techniques that encourage expressive, innovative
floral paintings. I will encourage good design, values, color, mingling the
paint on the paper, wet in wet, and negative painting. Learn the loose and
free techniques and also the more traditional approach that will give you
the freedom to portray the transparency and delicacy of flowers charged with

Vignettes - Painting With The White Of Your Paper - Summer Scenes
Painting vignettes in watercolor.
This class teaches a loose and vibrant approach to creating vignettes. What better way to declare the medium! The theme of this class will be to design paintings with the subject surrounded by a well-designed white space, Focus on color, shape, and design.

 En Plein Air Watercolor Workshop Series
This series of classes will take advantage of our beautiful Colorado scenery "au natural." We will conduct the class each week outside in a different location within the Longmont area. I will begin each class with a demo. We will look at creating a statement, telling a story, creating mood and simplification. We will look at not only what to paint, but what to leave out. I will instruct in creating good design and color theory, as well as mingling techniques and value—all while taking in our beautiful Colorado surroundings. You will then create your own painting, with my one-on-one guidance. If you are persistent, you should leave each session with a painting.
Friday Mornings 9:00am-noon
Beginning May 22nd and continuing as an ongoing series (every Friday) throughout the summer. Cost $90 per 4 sessions.
