Expand your creativity and satisfy the urge to produce your own colorful paintings in a safe and positive atmosphere. Several classes available, ongoing classes and one-day workshops in Longmont, Boulder, Arvada, and Denver.
Teresa Smith has been teaching watercolor, acrylics and collage workshops for several years. She is well known nationally for her landscapes, florals and equine art that is sold throughout the United States and Canada.
Inspired by nature, Teresa intuitively creates & paints personal impressions of the environment that surrounds her. Her goal is to emotionally touch others through her art and create paintings that make you feel.
Teresa has lived and studied art for most of her life in Canada and the United States. She has had a classical education in Fine Arts and treasures her life as an artist.
She enjoys sharing her knowledge with others and learning from the great masters of our time, while living in a beautiful inspiring environment with her three daughters and several pets.
Teresa believes in order to grow as an artist we need to continually experiment and strive for innovative paintings. To push boundaries and step into the unknown. To try new things and allow our inner knowing to take charge. Painting is a spiritual process. We must trust that our hand knows what color or what brush to choose. Our painting comes to life and takes us on an exciting journey. All we have to do as artists is to allow the art to unfold and follow its lead. Make order out of chaos. The result is astounding. Did I paint that we say? The painting is alive.

Living An Artful Life
What would it mean to live your whole life in an artful way? After incorporating Julia Cameron's "The Artist's Way" into my life for over 12 years and facilitating others with this path for the last several years, I have been yearning to take her work to the next level. Moving past recovery to actually being an artist, and from being an artist in my art to being an artist in my life. Not only healing the wounded artist but living life artfully starting NOW. Today! We can integrate art into our daily lives and make all aspects of our selves more complete, more satisfying, and more successful.
The New Year is a welcoming, refreshing time since it gives me an opportunity to take a serious look at where I am and where I want to go.
I mean, really look. From MY heart, from MY creative ideas. Putting MY self first, perhaps, in pursuing my creative endeavors. How can I fit it in? How will I find the time or the money? I have developed this new class to help you do just that in 2008. Starting January 29th, I want you to join me in "Living An Artful Life".
The course is a practical approach to doing your art, not merely thinking or writing about it. We will meet once a week for seven weeks. Each class we will reflect on our week, encourage, and support each other, share ideas, and midwife each other’s endeavors. There will be a practical "Art Exercise," a meditation and time for journaling and sharing in pairs and in the big group. No better way to DO ART than to get some paint on the fuzzy end of a stick, eh!
No judgment, no subject. Just play! There will be homework and journaling for your own personal growth, some exercises and tasks to help us remove any blocks.....but, no sense in waiting, lets START doing our art. Over the seven weeks new habits will be formed that will keep you going. The momentum will have you well on your way......DOING YOUR ART.
We don't have to wait until our artistic wounds are healed. We can start now! The doing of our art encourages our healing. I am very excited about this class and will enjoy the magic that will unfold in your artful life. This class is a collaboration of the practices and disciplines that I have used to create the artful life that I am living and as it continues to unfold.
"Living An Artful Life" Begins June 23rd
9:30 am - noon, Teresa's Art Studio, Longmont
$175 plus $25 supply fee.

Tuscany, Italy Trip,
September 18th27th 2008
The focus of this workshop will be to capture the FEEL of Italy, the ambiance that comes to mind using colors and allowing our emotions to come forth in our work. It is so important to paint in the field to GET that feeling in our work so while visiting neighboring countryside and villages we will create color sketches then create a finished piece when back at the Villa. I will guide you in creating successful paintings with emphasis on good design, color and content. Whatever your level of painting I can promise that your work will take a leap during these focused several days.
This workshop will have a casual flavour. Teresa will spend time with students to work with him or her on their skill level. There will be demos each day and lots of paint along work, critiques and one on one attention. The focus will be loose and vibrant watercolors that portray the beautiful scenery and most importantly have emotional content.
